Rosenwald: Huntsville, TX Film Screening & Post-Show Dialogue

Event Description

Join us for a screening of Rosenwald, a documentary exploring the remarkable story of Julius Rosenwald, a Jewish philanthropist and business leader who partnered with African American educator and activist Booker T. Washington to expand educational opportunities for African American communities during the Jim Crow era.

Their partnership helped build approximately 5,400 schools for African American children across the South. Rosenwald also supported YMCAs and housing for African Americans to address needs arising during the Great Migration.

The Rosenwald Fund supported influential artists, writers, and cultural figures including Marian Anderson, Woody Guthrie, Langston Hughes, Gordon Parks, and Jacob Lawrence.

A post-show community dialogue will follow the screening.
